The ESG Hamburg student telephone counseling service is available daily from 8 p.m. to midnight at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"tel:04041170411\">(040) 411 70 411<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and <a style=\"font-weight: bold\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telefonseelsorge.de\/\">&nbsp;TelefonSeelsorge.de<\/a><b>&nbsp;24\/7&nbsp;<\/b>under <strong>0800 1110111&nbsp;<\/strong>or <strong>0800 1110222<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><a>Studying and job<\/a><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For all those who work alongside their studies, there are a number of things to consider, including insurance and BAf\u00f6G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are examples of types of employment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Working student regulation<\/strong>: An assessment as a working student can be made if the focus is on the studies and the employment is regularly carried out for no more than 20 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Marginal employment:<\/strong> Possible for income up to the statutory mini-job earnings limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Short-term employment:<\/strong> Temporary employment, maximum three months or 70 working days in a calendar year with regularly more than 20 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Employment subject to compulsory insurance<\/strong>: If the time scope of the working student regulation is exceeded and more than 20 hours per week are worked for a total of more than 26 weeks in the calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Self-employment:<\/strong> Some typical student jobs are handled in this way and you receive a fee instead of a wage (e.g. at events). With this type of employment, it is important for the health insurance companies to note that the focus is on your studies and that the self-employed or commercial activity is not considered \u201cprofessional\u201d, because then the voluntary health insurance for the self-employed would apply. In any case, you should speak to your health insurance provider to clarify how it will be classified. On the other hand, self-employed persons are obliged to submit an income tax return. For tax purposes and for BAf\u00f6G (income limit differs; see below!), only the profit is of interest, i.e. the amount that results after deduction of all operating costs (collect receipts!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you work alongside your studies, you should always observe the income limits so that other benefits are not reduced or discontinued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you receive <strong>BAf\u00f6G<\/strong>, you are allowed to earn additional income without deductions within the specified allowances. If the allowances are exceeded, BAf\u00f6G will be reduced proportionately. Changes in income must always be reported to the BAf\u00f6G office, otherwise repayments may be demanded. There are additional allowances for children and spouses (taking into account their own income) of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the case of non-self-employment within the approval period (term of the BAf\u00f6G notification), a mini-job is not taken into account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income from self-employment is calculated separately. The decisive factor here is the operating profit, i.e. the surplus of income over expenditure. One problem with the calculation: the approval period does not correspond to the tax assessment period (usually the calendar year).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The allowances do not apply to internship semesters and mandatory internships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of <strong>family health insurance<\/strong> for people who are in training and under 25 years of age, or as a spouse, the monthly income is limited to the<strong> earnings limit<\/strong> of a mini-job. The illness must be documented by a medical certificate. You can find the relevant application forms at the university at the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-flensburg.de\/chancengleichheit\/anerkennung-besonderer-beduerfnisse-nachteilsausgleich\">Arbeitsbereich Chancengleichheit<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under BAf\u00f6G, compensation for disadvantages is also possible for a serious illness that leads to a limited ability to study and results in a delay in studies (funding over the maximum funding period).
