General Student Committee

The AStA is the body of the student body in which students continuously strive to improve the general conditions of study and promote exchange between the university and society. Their personal commitment and drive make a significant contribution to student life at the university.

Next to the student parliament (StuPa), the AStA is the most important organ of student self-administration at our university. It is divided into different departments, which are organized by area of responsibility. The speakers of the AStA are elected by the StuPa.

Wir tagen regelmäßig in hochschulöffentlichen Sitzungen, die rechtzeitig per E-Mail bekannt gegeben werden. Alle Studierenden sind herzlich eingeladen, an diesen Sitzungen teilzunehmen. Unsere Sitzungen finden i.d.R. als Hybridveranstaltungen statt.

Board of Directors

Our executive board manages the affairs of the student body and represents it in internal and external university committees.

Office team

Our staff is available during office hours and via e-mail or phone and will try to support you with your questions and concerns.

Our Units

This unit was only established at the end of 2022 and is in the start-up phase. While everything is still very fresh, you can help shape the new structures.

You can reach the unit under the mail address asta.antirassismus@uni-flensburg.de.

The department is led by a member of the FSKchairman/chairwoman, which represents the interests of the Program student's councils in the AStA and coordinates a constant dialogue between both bodies. Currently it's Edgar Beier-Salomon who can be contacted via email: fsk@uni-flensburg.

The Finance Unit assists the Chief Financial Officer with accounting and the preparation of the budget and the annual financial statements and is available for all financial questions. This position is currently vacant. If you are interested, please contact the Executive Board by email at asta.vorstand@uni-flensburg.de.

As the Unit for Gender Equality and Diversity, we stand up for diversity and good coexistence on campus! Among other things, we work for gender equality and the visibility of LGBTQIA* (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Inter, Queer, Asexual, Aromantic, Agender) people at EUF. We also take a clear stance against racism, ableism, classism and other forms of discrimination.

In our work, we dedicate ourselves to advocating for the interests of students and planning events (workshops, lectures, readings, film evenings, etc.) related to the above-mentioned areas.

If you want to network with us, are looking for support or have questions, feel free to get in touch! We usually meet every two weeks in person. If you want to join us, feel free to send us an email!

In the International Affairs Department, we concentrate on ensuring that our university remains true to the name "European University": Specifically, we understand this to mean contributing to or organising projects with an international theme so that international activities are further promoted at our university. Other initiatives include offering projects and content for international students, e.g. to make it easier for them to integrate and make contact with local students and, if necessary, to provide assistance with any problems that may arise.

Current projects:

eMerge: One of our current tasks is the coordination of the "eMERGE" project (on the student side with the other student representatives of all partner universities), the aim of which is to network different European universities with each other, both in the area of research teaching and to stimulate a cultural exchange between students. For this purpose, we take part in the regular meetings of the eMERGE student forum (ESF). Further information on the universities participating in the project can be found under the following Link

Model United Nations (MUN): Model United Nations is a simulation of a UN conference in which all participants take on the role of a country delegation to debate an issue of international relevance and find a solution. Our plan is to set up a MUN club together with the Department of Political Education and the media team of the International Office, which will meet regularly throughout the semester to debate in MUN style.

Podcast: Produce a language podcast with international and local students of different levels in the appropriate language, talking about simple and entertaining everyday topics to improve listening comprehension and speaking languages.

About us & contact:

We are Alexandra Osintseva, Annick Poirot and Hugo Mercier.

If you have any questions, e.g. what it's like to be an international student at the University of Flensburg or about our current projects, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to helping you! asta.internationales@uni-flensburg.de

The cultural department strengthens communication between the cultural institutions within Flensburg and the university. We are also committed to the preservation and further development of cultural offerings.

For example, cultural and dance events are planned in the department. In the interest of inclusive togetherness, many such events are planned jointly by students and cultural institutions and are aimed at students and those interested in culture.

Examples of past events/collaborations:

  • AStA Rotation (dance and cultural event) in the Kühlhaus
  • Torch rally at the Phänomenta
  • Cooperation with the Festivities Committee
  • Assistance with the organisation of master balls

We already have a few events planned for this semester. Just have a look at Events.

We deal with ecological issues around the university, its campus, the city of Flensburg and at the same time address global issues of environmental and climate protection. In the past, the department has organised several events around the topics of environmental protection and sustainability. Among other things, the department was jointly responsible for the successful implementation of the "FairCup" deposit cup system. At the moment, we are working on the "Garden of Science" project together with the climate protection manager of the EUF and some other university staff.
