Senate

The Senate consists of 25 elected representatives of the member groups of university teachers (thirteen members), academic staff (four members), non-academic staff (four members) and students (four members).

The Senate discusses and decides on central issues for the entire university. Until the faculties are established on 1 March 2023, the Senate has also taken on the role of all the Convenes. Subject-specific tasks will be taken over by the Convenes in future, for which an explanatory text will also be published shortly.

The current senators are (in ballot order):

  • Janko Koch, list "Liberale Hochschulgruppe" (since March)
  • Mara-Maria Burmeister, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)
  • Anna Böttcher, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)

AStA Chairperson in the Senate

In addition to the directly elected student senators, the AStA chairperson also has the right to attend, make motions and speak in the senate, including in the non-public section, as do the members of the university presidium without voting rights.

The AStA Chair has a separate agenda item "Report of the AStA Board" in each meeting, after the reports of the Senate Chair, the Uni Presidium and the Convenors.

Student activity in the Senate

In this legislative period, members of the lists "Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)" and "Liberale Hochschulgruppe" and the AStA chairperson have participated in all senate meetings.

In addition, there have been motions from the AStA Chair, which the list "Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)" has also joined:

Compulsory attendance (click)

The current situation regarding the not infrequent circumvention (either directly or indirectly via the demand for additional work) of the non-existent compulsory attendance is no longer acceptable. There is a need for a fundamental and transparent university-wide regulation on compulsory attendance.

Plagiarism handling (click)

Based on the experience of a specific case, the urgent need for a university-wide, uniform regulation of accusations of plagiarism has become apparent. There is a need for clear procedural guidelines in the framework examination regulations that leave no room for arbitrariness. Low-threshold support and assistance for those affected must also be clearly and unambiguously anchored!

Committee Wednesday (click)

As recently as the 2000s, the senate was still independently ensuring that students could attend senate meetings by prohibiting parallel courses. In the years since, this regulation has been softened more and more. If you take a look at the curriculum on a Wednesday today, it is no longer possible to speak of a "committee Wednesday", which creates the framework conditions for comprehensive student engagement in the first place.

Extended Senate

The Extended Senate consists of 48 representatives of the member groups of university teachers (16 members), academic staff (eight members), non-academic staff (eight members) and students (16 members).

The tasks of the Extended Senate are very manageable, and it meets correspondingly infrequently.

The current student members of the Extended Senate are (in ballot order):

  • Janko Koch, list "Liberale Hochschulgruppe" (since March)
  • Timo Schlagböhmer, list "Liberale Hochschulgruppe" (since the beginning of the legislature)
  • Jasmin Giwakowski, list „Liberale Hochschulgruppe“ (since the beginning of the legislature)
  • Frank Ellenberger, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)
  • Mara-Maria Burmeister, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)
  • Tim Janßen, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature period)
  • Anna Böttcher, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)
  • Verena Pecher, list „Level Up! (level-up-euf.de)“ (since the beginnung of the legislature)
  • Jana Fahlbusch, list "Bunte Liste" (since the beginning of the legislature)
