Contribution

Your contribution is currently €262.50. You can find all further information here.

Approximately two weeks before the start of a re-registration period, you will receive a fee notification from us by email to your student email address. This will contain the current fee, its breakdown and the payment details.

Yes, you generally have to pay the contribution. However, there are exceptional cases in which a Contribution Refund or exemption from contributions is possible

The fee is charged per semester.

Contributions must be paid during the two re-enrollment periods:

  • Re-enrollment period for the following autumn semester:
    1 January to 31 January
  • Re-enrollment period for the following spring semester:
    1 June to 30 June

If you have not paid your fee in time for it to reach the Studentenwerk on the last day of the re-registration period at the latest, you will have to make another separate transfer of €25 (to another account!) in addition to the fee. On the university hompage it is described in detail.

If you are able to transfer the missing amount in time for it to reach the Studentenwerk's account by the last day of the re-registration period, simply transfer the remaining amount.

You must also do this after the re-registration period has expired, but then a processing fee for the late re-registration will still apply. See above for late payment.

Clear answer: Yes and No!

If you are sure that you have completed your studies by 31 Aug or 28 Feb (including the registration of the last grade, the submission of the thesis is not enough!), then you do not have to re-register.

However, we always advise you to make the feedback anyway. After all, you never know what will happen in the future, even if it is the near future. If you re-register anyway, you are on the safe side and, if the worst comes to the worst, you will save 25 € in fees for a late re-registration.

If everything goes according to plan, with your certificate of exmatriculation you can get the fee you paid back.

Semester ticket

Yes, because the semester ticket is a so-called solidarity ticket. This means that it only has a low price because everyone has to buy it.

There are a few exceptions, e.g. if you are abroad for study reasons or have proven that you cannot use public transport. Just look at the Beitragserstattungen und –befreiungen nach, ob etwas von den Ausnahmetatbeständen auf Dich zutrifft.

While this is correct if you have not paid the full contribution, this can happen even if you have paid the full contribution. The data reconciliation between the Studentenwerk (where you transfer the fee including the semester ticket) and the university (where you are booked as enrolled / re-enrolled) is still far from fully automatic. Errors can occur.

However, such an error is unfortunately not noticed by a missing matriculation. This is because enrolled/re-enrolled students must also be booked with the full fee. And this is where things sometimes go wrong, which is then the reason for the ticket booking error. This is because the distribution system not only asks the university system for a completed enrollment/re-enrollment, but also for the full amount.

But that's not so bad: Simply send proof of your full payment (e.g. by screenshot) to the Student Administration Office (studsek@uni-flensburg.de). The missing booking is then made up for there. After that, it takes up to 24 hours for a server comparison, after which you can book the semester ticket.

For new enrollments, the semester ticket can only be ordered as of the beginning of the semester, i.e. 1 Sep or 1 Mar.

In the case of re-enrollments, however, the ticket can already be ordered in the month before, i.e. in August or February. It is advisable to make use of the possibility of early ordering so that possible problems do not lead to an interruption of the validity.

The semester ticket is always valid for one semester, i.e. from 1 September to 28 February and from 1 March to 31 August.

It must be ordered again after the end of the semester. By the way, this also applies to the D-Ticket upgrade!

No, it is not possible to return the semester ticket.

To use the D-Ticket, it is possible to upgrade the Semesterticket to a D-Ticket. The price for the upgrade corresponds to the calculated monthly difference between the Semesterticket and the D-Ticket.

Currently, the national semester ticket costs 142 € and the regional one 36 €, so a total of 178 € per semester. That makes 29.67 € per month. Therefore, the D-Ticket upgrade costs 49 € - 29.67 € = 19.33 € per month.
