The studies themselves are already full of challenges. Add to this the care of a close relative and it is not easier to meet all the requirements. The psychological stress caused by the care tasks should not be underestimated.
Students who care for relatives in a domestic environment (relatives in the sense of § 7 paragraph 3 of the Care Time Act and with at least a care level 3 according to §§ 14 and 15 of the 11th book of the Social Security Code), are entitled to support in BAföG beyond the maximum period of support. An extension of the deadline for the certificate of performance according to § 48 BAföG (form 5) can also be applied for.
The special needs of students who have close relatives with a degree in nursing care can also be recognised for study and examination achievements. It is possible to apply for compensation for disadvantages.
