Racist and far-right graffiti are increasingly appearing on the EUF campus — most recently, a swastika on the frozen lake. This is a signal we do not want to ignore.
At the same time, pressure on universities is growing across Germany: attempts to restrict the freedom of research and teaching are increasing. In this situation, we believe it is important for universities to do what they stand for — to analyze publicly, debate critically and with nuance, and create spaces for difficult questions.
Science Against Fascism — Action Week, June 1–7
From June 1 to 7, the nationwide “Science Against Fascism” action week will take place — an initiative by Studis gegen Rechts (“Students Against the Right”) and a network of supporting professors. Its goal is to encourage an academic engagement with the concept of fascism and the social responsibility of science — controversial, nuanced, and public.
At EUF, groups, institutes, and initiatives are already planning events. The AStA is collecting all events taking place in Flensburg and making them visible together.
