Dear former members of the Europa-Universität Flensburg,
We, the student representatives, are reaching out to you because we need your support in several protest actions. In the upcoming autumn semester, semester fees will exceed €400. The state is planning to introduce an administrative fee to withdraw from its responsibility for university funding, and the university itself is operating with a frozen budget.
The result: job cuts among academic staff, overworked lecturers, and students who can no longer find supervisors for their bachelor’s or master’s theses —
the joy of learning and teaching is being lost.
Therefore, we are planning a long-term campaign to draw attention to the daily realities and consequences that the university and its members face in Flensburg and throughout the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Posters will be distributed across Flensburg, an art exhibition will take place, and we will launch a petition to be handed over to the Minister of Education, Ms. Stenke, together with our letter.
We are tired of leaving our everyday lives unchanged and must clearly show what impact these “cuts” will have on the future of our state.
And for that, we need you.
We would be very happy if you could share your professional experiences with us. Perhaps you’d like to answer the following questions — and even forward them to friends, former fellow students, or colleagues.
Please note: anything you share with us may be published as part of our poster campaign and art exhibition.
Thank you very much for your time and your words.
Kind regards from Flensburg
